Details of World War One Centenary Events at St Mary's & St Luke's and in the Local Area
At our churches
Sunday 3 August: at both churches we will have a focus upon the Centenary WW1. At St Mary's we will particularly remember the names of those who gave their lives in WW1 and are on our War Memorial.
Monday 4 August: following Morning Prayer at 9am St Mary's will be open for quiet prayer and reflection until 7pm when there will be a brief service of Evening Prayer
Around the area
Sunday 3 August - King's Shilling Walk and Poppy parade. This will start from the Barony, Nantwich at 11am and the walkers will make their way to Queen's Park Crewe where there will be a service of Remembrance at 2pm at the Boer War memorial. This will be followed by a concert and picnic in the park. Period dress is encouraged.
Monday 4th August 10.30am Civic Service of commemoration in the Municipal Square Crewe
7.00pm Concert, 'Crewe Reflects' at the Lyceum Theatre including the Scout Gang show tableau.
10.00pm Lights Out ceremony in the Municipal Square Crewe led by the British Legion.
